The Librarian’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Bidar, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India.

The programme was organised to highlight the importance of libraries, reading habits, and the valuable role played by librarians in supporting academic and intellectual development. The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students.

The Principal, Dr. Deepa Raga, appreciated the efforts of the library staff and emphasised the importance of developing a regular reading habit among students. She highlighted that a library is not merely a collection of books but a centre for knowledge, learning, research and personality development.

The programme also included a brief talk on the life and contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and his pioneering role in developing library science in India. Students and staff were encouraged to make effective use of library resources, including books, journals, reference materials and digital resources.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, by Shri Sachin Shetkar expressing gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, library staff and students for their active participation and support. The programme was informative and inspiring, reinforcing the importance of libraries in the educational journey of every student.
